NOME - A Norwegian kayaker has been rescued from the Bering Strait after asking for help when he was blown off course.
Alaska State Troopers initially reported Tuesday night that 49-year-old Audun Nordhus was in distress about 10 miles southeast of Little Diomede Island.
An Alaska Air National Guard helicopter hoisted him aboard early Wednesday and took him to Nome.
The Coast Guard also assisted. Coast Guard Capt. Michael Inman says it was the second Bering Sea kayaker rescue in five days.
