Clarification

Wendy Hamilton, tobacco program coordinator for the National Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependence-Juneau, said she unintentionally provided a wrong figure for the "Juneau Assembly bans smoking in city bus shelter" article published Tuesday. She clarified that nationwide there are 450,000 smoking-related deaths each year. Of those deaths, 53,800 are related to secondhand smoke, Hamilton said.
