In early June, Juneau Alaska Bikers Advocating Training and Education (ABATE) hosted its first annual Ken Brewer Memorial Ride.
With nearly 60 riders on 40 motorcycles, and blessed with clear weather, we headed out and had a fantastic ride, ending with a wonderful barbecue at the Brewer house. We knew Ken was riding with us in spirit, which made the ride a bittersweet event.
Juneau ABATE realizes this ride wouldn't have happened without the participation and help of many, so we would like to thank all of the motorcycle enthusiasts who rode with us, as well as Sgt. Tom Bates, with the Juneau Police Department for traffic control; Jerry Beasley, Bob Heflin and Roland and Charlie Pope, for their planning and coordination; and most of all, the Brewer family.
