The Juneau Arts and Humanities Council presents the Sundays at Savikko community concert series, which kicks off today from 4:30-6 p.m. at the new Pioneer Pavilion in Savikko Park. The series kicks off with an all-Douglas Island line-up including Ed and Maggie Schoenfeld, the Douglas Community United Methodist Church Choir directed by Laurie Clough, The Beat Bros. (Bob Banghart and Jack Fontenella) and Teri Tibbett with Alex and Haley Nelson.
Audience members are invited to bring lawn chairs to enjoy the performances, which are scheduled to run through Aug. 15.
Future performances include Kray Van Kirk, Leta Simons and Alyssa Fisher on July 18; Malcolm Tullis and Collete Costa and the Off The Hook Honeys Dance on July 25; Rudolph M. Isturis/Spirit Whispers and Morally Improv-erished on Aug. 1; Carl Reese, Gene Nelson and Doug Badilla on Aug. 8; and Alyssa Fisher, Tony Tengs and Friends and Full Circle on Aug. 15.
The Island Pub will offer Sunday at Savikko specials each Sunday following the performances. In the event of rain, concerts will be moved to Douglas Community United Methodist Church.
