Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:


• Police arrested a man, 27, for domestic violence assault at 2:21 a.m. Thursday in the downtown area. Police believe alcohol was a factor in this incident. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


• A pair of sunglasses and a broken garage door opener were reported stolen at 7:51 a.m. Thursday near Glacier Highway.

• A blue Jansport backpack containing miscellaneous clothing items was reported stolen at 8:20 a.m. Thursday from an unlocked vehicle near Mountainwood Circle.

• A green men's mountain bike was reported stolen at 3:07 p.m. Thursday from a bike rack near Six Mile and North Douglas Highway.

Vandalism and criminal mischief:

• A boat trailer tire was slashed and it was reported at 5:08 p.m. Thursday from Thunder Street.

Animal encounters:

• Bears were reported Thursday at 8:01 p.m. near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek, 8:33 p.m. near Gastineau Avenue and Rawn Way, 8:38 p.m. near Irwin Street, 9:41 p.m. Stephen Richards Memorial Drive and 9:49 p.m. near Distin Avenue.
