Former Juneau resident James Woodbury Sr., 66, died Jan. 11, 2005, in Bowling Green, Ky. after a long battle with cancer.
He was born Dec. 31, 1938, in Oakland, Calif. He served in the United Stated Marine Corp. He was a fireman in Sitka and Juneau. He worked as a mechanic for Mason Chevron, a photographer for Irwin Photos, a cook for Fran's Drive Inn, and was a fisherman.
He enjoyed fishing for years before he moved south. His friends and family say he "was a jack of all trades."
He is survived by six sons and one daughter, Trudy Lynn Brown of Fredrick, Okla., James Richard Woodbury Sr. of Perrysburg, Ohio and their mother, Beverly Mullins of Fredrick, Okla.; James Woodbury Jr., Kenneth Brian Woodbury, Ronald Keith, Raymond Kent Woodbury and their mother, Frances Houston all of Juneau; Travis Ivan Woodbury of Angoon and his mother, Lucinda George of Juneau; 11 grandsons, five granddaughters and one great-grandson.
Upon his request, ashes will be spread at his favorite fishing grounds. A burial service will be 1 p.m., July 13, 2005, at the Evergreen Cemetery. All friends are welcome to attend.
