Coeur Alaska needs a better solution

Letter to the editor

I am not opposed to mining or the Kensington Mine, however, I believe Coeur Alaska needs to come up with another alternative for the mine waste. Dumping mine waste into Lower Slate Lake, which drains into Berners Bay, is a terrible precedence to set. It may be convenient and cheaper to dispose of chemically treated mine waste in a freshwater lake, but it is the wrong thing to do. I urge Coeur Alaska to come up with a better solution to the mine waste.
