Widowed Persons hold an ice cream social Sunday

Sound off on the important issues at

The Widowed Persons program is having an ice cream social at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Fireweed Place, 415 Willoughby Ave. Widows and widowers of all ages are invited to come join us for ice cream and cake.

The Widowed Persons support group will meet on July 20 at Fireweed place. A potluck begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the support group at 6:30 p.m.

Alaska Youth Choir to perform with guests

The Alaska Youth Choir, directed by Missouri T. Smith, will perform at 7:30 p.m. July 17 at Northern Lights United Church, 400 West 11th St.

Special guests will be the Chautauqua Children's Chorale, directed by Nancy Krestic; the Central Carolina Children's Chorus; the San Diego Children's Choir; and Sir David Willcocks and Duain Wolfe.

Rainforest Recovery holds third annual alumni picnic

The Rainforest Recovery Center is sponsoring its third annual Alumni Picnic from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 22 at the Rainforest Recovery Center, 3250 Hospital Drive.

The picnic is for all Juneau graduates of the Rainforest Recovery Center, Recovery Hospital and Recovery Unit from 1980 to the present and their families. Inpatient and outpatient graduates are welcome.

Salmon, hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks will be provided. Bring a dish if you wish. For more information, call 796-8690.
