Four teams advance to Minor Baseball semifinal round

Sitka battles Ketchikan, Juneau East plays Juneau West in Thursday's doubleheader

Sitka (4-1) will take on Ketchikan (2-3) at 3:30 p.m. today followed by Juneau East (3-2) and Juneau West (4-1) at 6 p.m.

Petersburg (2-3) upset Sitka 10-7 on Wednesday. Sitka had a four-game winning streak heading into the game.

Ketchikan punch its ticket for the semifinals with a 15-12 win over Prince of Wales (0-5).

In Wednesday's final game, Juneau West nipped Juneau East 13-11.


Sitka 4, Prince of Wales 2

Sitka improved to 4-0 in tournament play with a win over Prince of Wales.

Sitka scored three times in the third as A.J. Inman, Joey Inman and P.J. Sanchez all came around to score. Louis Belley hit a two-run double in the win.

Belley, Will Fenner and Erikson Fish all pitched for Sitka.

Kevin English and Alex Nickerson scored runs for Prince of Wales while Eric Scheidecker, Trevor Dahlstrom and Tucker Thain all pitched.

Juneau East 17, Ketchikan 6

Nick Stewart had three hits, an RBI double and scored five runs as Juneau East topped Ketchikan.

Grant Ainsworth, Henry Prussing and Stewart all pitched for Juneau East.

Ketchikan's Elijah Singstad scored twice while Casey Hendricks, Bryce May and Noah Silva pitched.

Juneau West 19, Petersburg 3

Juneau West defeated Petersburg as Colin Ludeman went 4-for-5 with two triples and three runs scored.

Catcher Vince Kowalski scored twice to lead Petersburg.

Ludeman, Jasper MacNaughton, Shane Mielke, Dennis Barril and Jacob Thibodeau pitched for Juneau West.

Colby Bell, Ethan Bryner and Cole Summerville pitched for Prince of Wales.


There were two mistakes in Wednesday's tournament roundup. Petersburg player Jared Vol's name was misspelled. Also, Jared Markovich pitched in Juneau East's 9-6 victory over Prince of Wales.
