JUNEAU - The Meals on Wheels Program is for persons 60 years of age and older who are homebound due to illness or disability and unable to come to the senior center for lunch. Each meal offers a main dish, salad, vegetable, bread source and milk.
Meals are delivered Monday through Friday by volunteers who offer a friendly smile and daily social contact for homebound seniors as well as a vital safety check for those living alone.
Juneau's Meals On Wheels Program also is seeking dependable, trustworthy people to serve as meal delivery volunteers. A volunteer with a regular delivery route (one day a week) would arrive at the Juneau Senior Center on 12th Street and Egan Drive between 11:30 a.m. and noon to pick up the meals and then deliver them to about eight homes in a common location.
Volunteers are needed to deliver a regular delivery route one day a week or to serve as substitutes during the summer months. Training is provided. For further information, call Susanne Elder at 463-6179.
