Local appointed to state arts council

JUNEAU - Gov. Sarah Palin has appointed Robyn L. Holloway of Juneau to a position on the Alaska State Council on the Arts.

Holloway has worked for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration since 2003 as an executive secretary, then as a fisheries enforcement technician.

A published poet, she is active in bringing the arts into the lives of Juneau's youth by teaching creative writing seminars, judging youth poetry contests at public schools and organizing a poetry program for the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council.

Holloway earned a bachelor's degree in English literature and creative writing at the University of Alaska Southeast in 2003.

She was appointed to a public seat on the council.
