ANCHORAGE - Efforts to re-float a 47-foot boat that grounded off of Annette Bay south of Ketchikan on Sunday were unsuccessful, according to Coast Guard officals.

The Scrimshaw, a pleasure craft, grounded during low tide in Annette Bay, leaving several holes in the boat and leaking about 400 gallons of fuel. Two unidentified people aboard the Scrimshaw escaped safely.

Coast Guard crews in Ketchikan placed containment booms around the vessel and monitored cleanup efforts of the fuel.

A commercial salvage company was working to patch the holes.
