Juneau police, fire officials, hospital officials and state troopers reported:

Thefts, lost/found items:

Shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday, a man, 52, brought to the Juneau Police Department a large green bag that had been left open in a Glacier Highway parking lot. The property was placed into safekeeping.

Shortly before noon Wednesday, a blue Huffy bike was turned in to the police station. It had been found on North Douglas Highway.


About 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, a boy, 12, was arrested at a residence on Mendenhall Loop Road for fourth-degree domestic violence assault. He was lodged at Johnson Youth Center.

Vehicle accidents:

About 3 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a motor vehicle accident at Glacier Highway and Industrial Drive. A man, 22, operating a truck, rear-ended a BMW operated by a man, 44. The younger man was cited for careless driving. The truck suffered about $1,000 damage; the BMW, about $6,000 damage.

About 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, a Toyota truck struck the taillight of a Dodge station wagon on Glacier Highway near Industrial Boulevard. About $50 damage was caused.


About 11 a.m. Wednesday, a 22-year-old woman reported her Pontiac Grand Am had been vandalized while parked at her residence, an apartment complex on Northwood Drive. There was a scratch to the right rear quarter panel, and the antenna was broken off.

About 1 p.m. Wednesday, a 41-year-old man reported the tailpipe of his truck was vandalized on Northwood Drive.

Animal encounters:

About 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, police received a report of a bear in the area of Jennifer Drive.

Around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, police received a report of a bear in the vicinity of Trinity Drive.

About 4:30 a.m. today, police received a report of a bear in the area of Kanat'a Street.

About 5:30 a.m. today, police received a report of a bear in the area of a Mendenhall Loop Road trailer park. The bear was getting into garbage cans.

Warrant arrests:

Shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday, a man, 23, was arrested on an outstanding $250 cash JPD warrant downtown for failure to pay fines and comply with conditions of probation.

About 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, a woman, 45, was arrested at a motel on an outstanding warrant for noncompliance with court-ordered substance-abuse treatment. She was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

About 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, a man, 45, was arrested at Cope Park on an outstanding Juneau Alaska State Troopers $2,500 cash warrant for failure to appear at a court hearing and failure to undergo alcohol screening. He was lodged at state prison. Alcohol was involved in the incident.


About 10 p.m. Wednesday, Capital City Fire & Rescue responded to a report of am 11-year-old boy who had fallen from a first-story window at a residence on South Franklin Street. He was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for examination. He was treated for a fracture of the left heel, and then released in good condition.
