It was July 18, 1951 - a bright, flower-scented summer's day - when a ruggedly handsome George Fiehler married the vivaceous Virginia Deaver in the bustling community of Sidney, Neb. Their union produced four grateful, loving, talented - yet remarkably modest - offspring who are privileged and delighted to announce a 50th anniversary celebration to honor this family milestone.
Family and friends are invited to a service that begins at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. A reception will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Juneau Yacht Club, following the service. Everyone who has ever known George or Virginia is invited to enjoy the moment, relive the past, and extend best wishes for the future. Tickle your taste buds and indulge your senses with mass quantities of food, drink and music. No presents, please.
George and Virginia had tried living in Nebraska, Oregon, Colorado and Montana before finding their way to Juneau in 1972. They have made a home where their four children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren can always drop in - for advice or just milk and cookies.
