Former Juneau resident Minty Gay Guesman, 92, a resident of The Dalles, Ore., died Saturday, July 3, 2004, at a local care facility.
She was born Dec. 11, 1911, in Frametown, W.Va., the oldest daughter of 17 children to Henry E. and Ida Jane (Keener) Dickey. She married Clyde Milfred Guesman in Rices Landing, Penn., on Aug. 30, 1940. He died in 1963. She was a resident of Juneau from 1984, until moving to Oregon in 1999. She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, ceramics, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters and their families: Brenda and her husband, Elmer E. Marx, of Juneau; and Linda G. and her husband Bob Hoffman of The Dalles, Ore.; sister, Jessie Belknap of Brooksville, Fla.; grandchildren, Karl E. Marx of Boone, N.C., Harry C. Marx of Ariel, Wash., Klaus E. Marx of Lake Chelan, Wash., Gretchen M. Marx of Waynesburg, Penn., Elmer E. Marx, Luther A. (Gus) Marx and Hans P. Marx of Juneau, Brenda G. Halbert of Olympia, Wash., and Jennifer L. Barne of Des Moines, Iowa; 19 great-grandchildren and 185 nieces and nephews.
The family will observe private ceremonies of remembrance. Arrangements are by Columbia Cremation & Burial in The Dalles, Ore.
