FAIRBANKS - Thousands are expected to attend the Alaska governor's annual Fairbanks picnic, where Gov. Palin will officially step down and transfer power to Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell.
Organizers of the July 26 event say they are planning on at least 5,000 picnickers and scores of journalists.
They say security will be tighter than usual and media credentials will be checked.
Palin spokesman Dave Murrow says C-SPAN is the only news outlet that has queried the governor's office about the event so far.
Murrow says plenty more outlets are expected to check in as the date nears.
