Seven tennis players from Juneau returned from Whitehorse after competing in the summer edition of the Capital Cup from July 9-11.The Capital Cup is a friendly competition between the two capital cities.he competition, which began in the early 1980s, is a community event that brings together the sister cities for possession of the perpetual tennis trophy, which has been won by Juneau in the four of the last five meetings.
Team Juneau, consisting of Maggie Brockhaus, Nathan Graves, Steve Hamilton, Matt Jones, Alavini Lata, Mark Poplis, and Mona Yarnall, played in a combination of singles and doubles events throughout the weekend.he games won in each match featuring a Juneau versus Whitehorse lineup counted towards the team cumulative score.uneau prevailed with a 20+ game lead and possession of the cup until April 2011 when the competition takes place in Juneau.
