The state ferry Taku dwarfs the Tenakee Springs dock during a trial run in June, and neighbors show their enthusiasm. Alaska Marine Highway Service resumed to the Chichagof Island community later in the month. Tenakee Springs had been served by the LeConte before that vessel ran aground on May 10. The Taku, which measures 117 feet longer than the LeConte, had been considered too large to serve Tenakee Springs. After the trial, Tenakee Springs was added as a stop on the schedule of the Taku.
