The Juneau Community Foundation received a Certificate of Occupancy for the new Dimond Park Field House on July 10. In a brief meeting conducted at the new field house that day, the foundation transferred ownership of the facility to the Dimond Park Field House Inc., which was created to own and oversee management of the facility. DPFHI will enter into a management agreement with Eaglecrest Ski Area to operate the facility beginning in September.
The facility, to be named the Wells Fargo Dimond Park Field House, as a result of a significant contribution toward operations from Wells Fargo, will open in early September. It will be used by local youth sports teams, the Juneau School District, adult recreation leagues and other community events. The facility has indoor batting cages, a turf field and a running track. The official community wide opening ceremony will be held the second weekend in September.
The Juneau Community Foundation wishes to thank all of the individuals, businesses, contractors, the Alaska State Legislature and the City and Borough of Juneau for their cooperation and assistance in the successful completion of the project. JCF was established to promote philanthropy in Juneau and contribute the betterment of our community. More information about JCF may be found at www.juneaucf.org or by calling 463-3223.
