FAIRBANKS - A 54-year-old man pleaded guilty to negligent homicide in the death of a driver he collided with at a Fairbanks intersection in 2007.
Theodore Wicken will spend 45 days in jail after a judge on Wednesday suspended most of the 15-month sentence.
The father of five was rushing to work when his pickup struck a car driven by 23-year-old Zachary Creek.
The victim's family told Judge Michael MacDonald they forgave Wicken and didn't think jail was necessary.
The Creeks are expected to receive a settlement from Wicken's insurance company, with the money going into a trust for Zachary Creek's two sons.
