A man is arrested for drunken driving, driving without a valid driving license and three counts of reckless endangerment. He is released. A 16-year-old boy is arrested for drunken driving, underage drinking, marijuana possession and reckless endangerment. He is released to his parents. And we have a problem with drunken drivers in our town?
A 16-year-old boy was arrested on numerous charges -- and he was taken home to his parents. What kind of message is that sending to our kids? Shouldn't he have been lodged at the Johnson Youth Center at least?
I can't believe somebody would take the pink flamingos off that yard across from Auke Lake. Please put the flamingos back. They brighten up our summer.
Give back the pink flamingos, you meanies!
To all merchants who sell fake Alaska Native art made in Indonesia and try to pass it off as made in Alaska - you aren't just cheating your customers and ruining the market for authentic Native art. You're breaking the law. Misrepresentation is a crime, and you will be caught.
To the person who called in about downtown businesses who ``claim'' to be locally owned and operated - 123 out of 130 businesses on South Franklin street in downtown Juneau are owned and operated by people who live here year-round, pay taxes and support the community. (Two other callers expressed similar opinions.)
I'm not happy with Gastineau Channel Little League's decision to make 10-year-old all star teams. Let's let the kids relax and learn the game of baseball without starting the intensity so early.
I agree with the caller about the fur shops in Juneau. The ones on South Franklin are really gross. Aren't there any animal rights activists in Juneau who can give them a hard time so tourists stop buying their furs?
I enjoyed ``The Perfect Storm,'' but I was so upset over the 15 minutes of violent, psycho-thriller previews that I nearly left before it started. Why does the theater show such previews at a PG-13 movie?
I play in the band that played out at Echo Cove last weekend, and I'd like to thank all the people that gave us positive support. We're glad that everybody had a good time, that nobody got hurt and everything went smoothly.
Why doesn't the City of Juneau look at what Fairbanks has done about the cost of government?
I'm calling for retirees. They're raising prices on everything and seniors don't get any increase on their retirement. I think that really stinks.
When Jack Williams says that a cruise tax is stupid, he's calling each and every one of us stupid. We're the ones that voted for it. I take it as a personal insult.
Many thanks to the kind person who found and left my Gortex rain hat at the end of Fritz Cove. I've lost three and this is my fourth one, so I'm very grateful. Thanks.
I've noticed that everyone's including the floatplanes and the rescue helicopters in the fight against the Peace and Quiet Initiative. I'd like to make it clear that we are not against the noise of floatplanes and rescue helicopters. All we want is to regulate the tourist industry so they don't have a negative effect on our daily lives.
Some time ago, the Seattle residents complained about Alaska Airlines' old jets coming and going out of Washington state. Alaska Airlines bought newer jets and let us have the older jets - which by the way also wake us up, light sleepers that we are.
Juneau needs to clean exteriors of public buildings, especially the State Office Building and Juneau-Douglas High School. Tourists notice and comment on how dirty they are.
Let's bash the tourist buses about driving through town. Let's bash the helicopters for landing too often on the icefield. Let's bash the ships for coming too often. Let's bash the floatplanes for too many flights. Who can we bash next? I know, let's bash state workers, too many trips on Egan Drive. After that, there may be no one left in Juneau to bash but ourselves.
