Ketchikan blanks Sitka, will play Juneau juniors for Little League crown

Juneau's Gastineau Channel Little League Junior All-Stars will take on Ketchikan at 2 p.m. today in the championship game of the Alaska District 2 (Southeast) Junior (age 13-14) Little League Baseball Tournament at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park.

Juneau, which had a bye Monday, is the only undefeated team left in the double-elimination tournament. Should Ketchikan win, an if-necessary game will take place at 5 p.m. today.

Ketchikan advanced to today's championship game as Tyler Richardson threw a three-hit, 7-0 shutout victory over Sitka in Monday's losers' bracket final.

Richardson and Sitka pitcher John Taylor were locked in a scoreless pitching duel until the fifth inning, when Ketchikan scored four runs on a three-run double by Jake Ostrom, who then scored on a single by Casey Bass. Ketchikan made it 7-0 in the sixth inning as Ben Voetberg hit a two-out, two-run single, then Ostrom drove Voetberg home with an RBI single.

Juneau met Ketchikan in the first round of the tournament, and Jon Andrew Malacas threw a no-hitter as Juneau claimed a 9-0 victory.
