Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Thefts:

• A black bag was reported stolen at 7:28 a.m. Wednesday from an unlocked vehicle near Gull Way sometime Tuesday night. The bag contained job-related papers and a stethoscope.

• A visa checkcard, a black rain jacket and five CDs were reported stolen at 8:33 a.m. Wednesday near Glacier Highway. The items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

• A navy blue duffel bag containing a curling iron, a hair dryer, clothes, make-up and personal items was reported stolen at 4:53 p.m. Wednesday near James Boulevard.

• Charles Williams, 15, was arrested for vehicle theft, a felony, at 5:52 p.m. Wednesday near Glacier Highway. He also was charged with driving without a valid driver's license. He was lodged at the Juneau Youth Center.

• A car radio face plate was reported stolen at 6:52 a.m. today from Fifth Street in Douglas. The plate was taken from an unlocked vehicle.

Animal encounters:

• Bears were reported Wednesday at 7:57 a.m. near Hendrickson Road, 8:30 a.m. near Egan Drive and Sunny Point, and 10:16 p.m. near Fifth Street in Douglas.

Bears were reported today at 12:18 a.m. near South Franklin Street and Admiral Way and 2:09 a.m. near Fifth Street in Juneau.
