Distasteful? Some no doubt found the military or the peace groups in the July Fourth parade distasteful, depending on whether they support or oppose the war. There are always enough political views represented in the parade to offend someone. But does that mean that some committee should censor Juneau residents' political expression?
The July Fourth committee should reconsider its appalling decision to censor future parade entries. Not only appalling, but unwise. How will they decide what is acceptable and what is not?
And who are they to decide?
Assuming the parade has a permit from the city, the Assembly should make sure this decision - so contrary to the principles we celebrate on July Fourth - is reversed.
