ANCHORAGE - Former Alaska Gov. Wally Hickel was admitted to a hospital Thursday morning after complaining of chest pains.
The 88-year-old Hickel is expected to undergo testing throughout the day.
Hickel's office sent out a release saying he was feeling fine by 5 a.m. Thursday. He asked for breakfast and told his staff to reschedule meetings to the hospital.
His longtime aide, Malcolm Roberts, said Hickel was in good sprits and wants to return to work as soon as possible.
Hickel was elected governor in 1966 and 1990.
