FAIRBANKS - Rescuers have found the personal effects of a missing federal customs agent whose car was found in a creek near a rain-damaged section of the Taylor Highway.
But Alaska State Troopers say there's no sure sign that 56-year-old Charles Collins of Eagle River escaped the torrent.
Collins has been missing since his car rolled 200 feet down a steep embankment near mile 114 of the highway and ended up in rushing waters. Troopers were notified early Tuesday.
A customs official say Collins was in a government vehicle on his way to run an errand. He has been a customs officer since 2002 and is based out of Anchorage.
The highway has been closed between Eagle and Chicken since Monday after a storm washed out portions of the road.
