COOK INLET - The U.S. Coast Guard says it rescued two people from a sinking 34-foot boat about 10 miles northwest of Anchor Point in Cook Inlet.
The fishing boat was taking on water Thursday night and Eric Olsen and Leah Lansdown called the Coast Guard for help.
Petty Officer Jon-Paul Rios says when a rescue vessel arrived, the two said they were OK so the vessel left.
But they called back a short while later and again asked for help.
Rios says that this time the two were hoisted off the stricken boat and just in time. As the second person was rescued, Rios says the boat overturned.
The two were brought to shore in good condition.
