Other:

Capital City Fire & Rescue responded about 2:30 a.m. today to a report of a float plane sinking in the float pond just south of Juneau Airport's runway. The white Beaver on floats was heavily loaded, and began sinking tail first, said airport facility manager Ralph Sanford. He was able to contact the owner, who unlocked the plane's doors. With the plane unloaded, airport staff was able to stick logs under the floats while the floats were pumped out. They got the plane on the level again without its suffering any damage. The plane's owner, from Texas, spends the summer working near Talkeetna. He was very relieved, Sanford said.
