JUNEAU - Eagle River United Methodist Camp, located out the road at 27.5 Mile, is a nonprofit year-round community camp and retreat center open to all. Eagle River Camp is an accessible but remote location for a small or large group camp or retreat.
The camp is now accepting reservations for the following dates: Aug. 1 to 2 (two nights) and Aug. 16 to Sept. 7. Openings for fall and winter use are also available now.
The camp is ideal for meetings or events, planning sessions, hiking, fishing, nature walks, bird watching and church camps, as well as school or family camps. In the winter, it is a great spot for cross country skiing, winter survival camp, or environmental education.
With grounds consisting of 48 acres and 100-year-old spruce trees, the camp is ideal for recharging one's spiritual batteries any time of the year. Situated just before Eagle Beach State Park, within a 5-mile radius of the camp, the topography goes from glacier ice to the salt water of the Lynn Canal making it an excellent location for outdoor camping, education and environmental studies. If desired, marked trails lead to high adventure in wildlife and botanical study. Adjacent to the camp are the facilities at Eagle beach and the trails to Herbert and Eagle Glaciers.
The 14 facilities include a lodge, four cabins and nine summer cabins. Lodging in the summer is available for 120 people. The capacity for the ERUMC Lodge is 120 guests, which includes a commercial kitchen.
