ANCHORAGE - Anchorage police have charged two teenagers in the robbery death of a homeless man found dead inside a sleeping bag in a park.
The Anchorage Daily News reported that 18-year-olds Lawrence Lobdell and Marc Steven Ewing were charged Friday night with second-degree murder in the death of 37-year-old James Lockery.
Police said Lockery's body was found July 12 in an area near Centennial Park known as a homeless camp. Lobdell told authorities he knew the man because the teen had also been staying at the camp.
Court documents said the teens took $7 and a case of beer from Lockery before attacking him.
Both are being held on $200,000 bail. Ewing says he plans to hire a lawyer and Lobdell's court appearance was rescheduled.
