FAIRBANKS - A Wasilla man said his 68-year-old mother is missing, traveling in a black SUV with two parrots.

Terry Tyrell said it was no surprise that Carlyn "Sue" Tyrell took a trip to Fairbanks, but it's odd two weeks have passed without a call.

He said gasoline was purchased in Fairbanks with her bank card on July 4.

Tyrell said the family owns a mine on Steese Highway but he doesn't know the purpose of her trip. He says a family friend told him about it.

Alaska state troopers have her listed as missing. She is described as 5-feet-8 and 220 pounds with gray hair and glasses, walking with a cane.

Her 1998 Ford Explorer has license plate HAH682.
