Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Thefts, lost/found items:

About 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, a woman, 49, reported the passenger side mirror of her vehicle had been stolen while the vehicle was parked at a residence off Back Loop Road.

About 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, a state employee reported the theft of a new computer from the Alaska Office Building. The computer was valued at $1,872.

About 3 p.m. Wednesday, a girl, 17, reported the theft of 40 music compact discs (valued at $600), a car stereo ($200), a maroon fleece jacket ($80), and a blue backpack ($120) from her car on July 3 while it was parked in a downtown hotel's parking lot.

About 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, police found a pill bottle containing prescription medication at an Auke Bay bus stop. The bottle was placed into safekeeping pending notification of owner.


Shortly before 1 a.m. today, a man, 39, was arrested for assault in front of a bar and hotel on Front Street. He was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of his injuries, and then taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center. A woman, 20, was issued a citation for minor consuming.

Vehicle accidents:

In the rush-hour accident Wednesday morning on Douglas Bridge that sent four people to Bartlett Regional Hospital for evaluation, a woman, 38, driving a 1991 Geo Metro, was found at fault by the Juneau Police Department. The precise citation issued was not available this morning.

Shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday, a 1994 Pontiac operated by a man, 21, was involved in a non-injury accident outbound on Egan Drive with a 1996 Kenworth truck towing a trailer, operated by a man, 45. The Pontiac's driver was cited for careless driving. The Pontiac was towed from the scene.

About 3 p.m. Wednesday the Juneau Police Department received a report of a 1985 Plymouth operated by a boy, 17, being rear-ended by a red car on Marine Way. Drivers exchanged insurance information.


Shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday, a man, 39, was issued a citation for unsafe backing after police received a report that he hit a vehicle in a parking lot on Old Dairy Road. Alcohol was involved.


At 11 p.m. Wednesday, a man, 24, was placed under citizen's arrest for trespassing at a gas station in the Mendenhall Valley. He was taken to state prison.

About 1:30 a.m. today, police received a report of a trespasser downtown. A woman, 53, was cited for disturbing the peace. She was released at the scene. Alcohol was involved.

Animal encounters:

About 8 a.m. Wednesday, police received a report of a glacier bear in the area of Peters Lane in Douglas. The bear was not showing aggression.

Warrant arrests:

About 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, police arrested a man, 43, on Lemon Creek Road on an outstanding $600 cash warrant from the Juneau detachment of the Alaska State Troopers for non-compliance with court-ordered substance-abuse treatment. He was lodged at state prison.
