Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Drunken driving:

• Anthony Brakes, 31, was arrested at 3:45 a.m. Saturday near Aurora Harbor on charges of felony drunken driving, refusing a breath test and reckless endangerment. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

Hit and run:

• At 11:45 a.m. Friday, police received a report of a 1999 Saab damaged on Seward Street by a hit-and-run driver Thursday night.

• At 3 p.m. Friday police received a report of a 1987 Jeep Cherokee that was hit by an unknown vehicle Thursday night at Harris Harbor.

• At 4:15 p.m. Friday near Vintage Boulevard a 1996 Subaru was reported struck by a Dodge mini-van, which left the scene.

Boating accidents:

• At 4:30 p.m. Thursday a boat attempting to moor at Aurora Harbor was reported hit by another boat, causing $1,000 in damage.


• A Huffy bicycle was reported stolen from a residence near Glacier Highway at 7 p.m. Thursday.

• A television and 15 to 20 video games were reported stolen from a Lena Loop residence at 8:03 a.m. Friday.

• A woman, 18, was cited on a shoplifting charge near Mendenhall Mall Road at 11 a.m. Friday.


• At 12:28 Thursday, the windshield of a Dodge was damaged when it was struck by a coin.

• At 7:28 a.m. Friday, police took a report of a Honda Accord on Lemon Street that had its rear window broken out Thursday night.

• Four new vehicles were reported vandalized at 10:30 a.m. Saturday near Mallard Street. Damage is estimated at $1,000 per vehicle.

Disorderly conduct:

• A man, 36, was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge at 6:33 a.m. Friday. He was lodged at the state prison.

Animal complaints:

• A bear was reported on the porch of a Long Run Drive home at 9:37 p.m. Thursday. The animal was going from residence to residence.

• Bears were reported Thursday at 10:45 p.m. near Long Run Drive and at 10:30 p.m. getting into trash near Gee Street; Friday at 4:15 a.m. near Cinema Drive and at 4:20 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. near Mendenhall Loop Road; and Saturday at 3:45 a.m. near Long Run Drive and 11:45 a.m. near Glacier Highway.
