Becoming a free agent by deception

Letter to the editor

I am shocked to find that anyone believes Carlos Boozer acted ethically in his dealing with the Cavaliers. Common sense dictates that if he had honestly told Cavaliers management that he intended to seek out the highest offer on the open market, they simply would have picked up his option and forced him to play for $700,000 this year.

Certainly there is nothing improper about a legitimate free agent (Jim Thome, Manny Ramirez) negotiating for the highest dollar. But to become a free agent by deception is shameless and disgusting.
