GCLL to play for state titles

Juneau All-Stars send major, junior and senior teams to state tournaments

Three All-Star teams from the Gastineau Channel Little League will battle for state championships stating this weekend.

The Juneau Major Softball All-Stars will battle it out for the Alaska State Championship in a best two-of-three series starting Saturday in Anchorage.

The winner heads off to the regional tournament in Vancouver, Wash., from July 30 to August 7. The regional champion then plays in the ESPN televised Little League Softball World Series in Portland, Ore.

The Juneau Junior Softball All-Stars are also heading off to Anchorage to play in the state tournament from July 28 to August 1. The winner of the best two-of-three tournament heads off to the regional tournament. The region champs then go to Kirkland, Wash., to play for the World Series title.

The Juneau Senior Softball All-Stars will take on the Soldotna All-Stars this weekend at Melvin Park for the Alaska State title. The first game of the best two-of-three series is Friday.

The state champ then travels to Great Falls, Mont., for the regional title. The region champ then plays for the Senior Softball World Series from August 7-13 in Roxana, Del.
