Cyclists: Warn walkers when passing on trail

Posted: Friday, July 20, 2007

I would like to thank those cyclists who let people know when they are coming up behind them on the trails. I walk my dogs every day and appreciate it when a cyclist loudly says, "On your left," or "On your right," before trying to pass. This gives me time to get my dogs and myself off the trail, which I do not mind doing at all.

For cyclists who do not do this, there could be a painful crash of people, dogs and bikes. I have seen it before. I am concerned for the safety of everyone, so cyclists please let walkers know when you are coming up behind them to pass.

I believe we can all share and enjoy the trails if we just remember to be courteous and considerate of others.
