Letter oversimplified origins of war in Iraq

Posted: Friday, July 20, 2007

I recently read Stuart Cohen's letter ("Disinformation on Iraq war's origins," July 9) absolving Democrats of blame for the war. His letter is no more than a blatant act of oversimplification.

Sound off on the important issues at

Beyond removing Saddam Hussein from power, the Democrats also voted on stabilizing Iraq as well as establishing a government for the people of Iraq. Cohen also forgot to mention that the United Nations passed 21 resolutions giving coalition troops the go-ahead to invade Iraq.

By the way folks, did you know that at this point in the Vietnam War, more than 30,000 Americans had given their lives? Every life is important, and I am glad to see our troops are faring better these days.

God bless the good guys.
