New president for Brown & Associates

Sound off on the important issues at

JUNEAU - DeLores Brown has taken over as president of Brown & Associates income tax and accounting firm, following the death of her husband, Dwayne Brown.

The well-known business owner and longtime Juneau resident died May 19, at Northwest Hospital in Seattle. He was 76. He retired in 2002 due to medical conditions, but continued to be involved in the business until his death.

His daughter, Robyn Rehbein, has become vice president and oversees the business, and longtime employee Vanessa Duran has been promoted from office manager to corporate treasurer and secretary, expanding her duties to management of the overall office.

Dwayne and DeLores Brown purchased Werner's Bookkeeping from Joseph Werner in 1972, when the couple moved to Juneau. The firm's name was later changed to Brown & Associates.

In the mid-1970s, the Browns opened Fran's Drive In, where the Travelodge Hotel is now. They later moved it to 9131 Glacier Highway and renamed it the In and Out Restaurant. They eventually sold the business, which became Donna's Restaurant.

Brown & Associates, which employs five to six people, is at 2209 N. Jordan Ave.
