Thank you, Breeze In, for donating food

Sound off on the important issues at

The Learning Connection would like to thank and acknowledge the Breeze In for their generous donations of food to our downtown location. The Breeze In has donated bagels and doughnuts daily to the Center for several years, providing needed sustenance for many GED and other adult education students. The Breeze In's generosity is a true reflection of their commitment to our community. Thank you again for all you do to for our students. We appreciate your generosity very much.

Thanks for playing in Juneau on the Fourth

As sponsors of the 9th Army Band's participation in the Juneau-Douglas Fourth of July celebration, American Legion Post 25 wants to publicly thank the band for its excellent performances on July 3 and 4. The band worked diligently since last November getting the permission needed to bring the band down from Fairbanks. Thank you, 9th Army Band, for joining all of Juneau in celebrating our nation's birthday.

In addition to the gratitude owed the band, Post 25 wants to thank the following organizations for their support of the Legion's Independence Day activities: ABG Bus Line and Princess Tours, for providing Juneau-Douglas transportation for the band; the Juneau unit of ARNG, for providing housing; and the Mount Robert's Tramway, for providing pass on the Tram.

We also want to thank the Alaska Salmon Bake and the Douglas Community United Methodist Church, for providing meals; ACT, for providing a trolley for the Legion/VFW float; and Princess Cruises, for providing many of the treats distributed from the trolley.

We also thank the Department of Administration for use of the State Office Building atrium; and to Parks and Recreation for use of the Marine Park pavilion. Thank you, radio stations KINY and TAKU 105 and the Juneau Empire, for coverage of the band's performances.

Finally, congratulations to the Juneau and Douglas parade committees for their hard work in organizing the two parades and the fireworks display. In addition to all the organizations/bussinesses support, many private individuals donated their time and money in support of our nation's birthday. Thank you, all.

Lowell S. Barrick

Commander, American Legion Post 25
