Perseverance Trail work party postponed

JUNEAU - Trail Mix Inc. announced Friday that the volunteer work party on the Perseverance Trail scheduled for this weekend has been postponed until Aug. 2.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The schedule change was made to accommodate additional volunteers. The decision also resulted from unanticipated equipment issues.

The work will include rehabilitation of several washed-out sections of trail, reinforcing the trail along Gold Creek and improving the approaches to several footbridges. The project is being funded through a grant by the National Park Service and matched with additional support from the city of Juneau and the Alaska State Parks.

Trail Mix is a nonprofit partnership between trail enthusiasts and land management agencies dedicated to improving and expanding Juneau's trail system.
