TALKEETNA - Alaska wildlife troopers have cited a Talkeetna-area man who told authorities he shot a female brown bear and three cubs at his home near Clear Creek.
Troopers say 59-year-old Don Tanner has been issued a summons to appear in court on the misdemeanor counts of taking a sow accompanied by cubs, and taking a cub bear.
The troopers say Tanner reported the shootings July 6.
An investigation indicated Tanner shot the female bear through an open window at his home, then shot two of the cubs as they were attempting to break into his home. Troopers said Monday that Tanner shot the third cub as it was standing beside the female.
