ANCHORAGE - A boy was killed over the weekend when the car he was riding in slid into the Resurrection River on the Kenai Peninsula.
Alaska State Troopers said the accident occurred early Sunday morning near Seward.
Troopers said 13-year-old Matthew Landers was riding in the car with three other people. He was the only one who didn't make it to shore.
A local backhoe operator was able to get the car out of the river. The boy's body was found inside.
Troopers said 43-year-old Seward resident Daniel Armstrong was driving. An investigation is ongoing.
