...for help with raffle tickets
Big Brothers Big Sisters would like to thank Darlene McNaughton and the House of Gifts for generously selling raffle tickets for the 2003 Chevy Silverado currently on display at the Nugget Mall. The House of Gifts has been a great help in selling these tickets to support our Big Brother Big Sisters programs across Southeast Alaska.

...for help with no-alcohol margaritas
On July 4, MADD sold non-alcoholic margaritas at the Douglas parade. It was a wonderful, if not chilling, adventure. We plan to make this a yearly event and look forward to serving the community delicious non-alcoholic options. We couldn't have done it without the support of Douglas' merchants. Special thanks to Douglas In and Our and Juneau's Perseverance Theatre, who provided the space, electricity, ice and storage. Thank you.
...for helping Girl Scouts with overnight camp
Tongass Alaska Girl Scout Council has just completed one of the best weeks of overnight camping imaginable. Healthy, busy and happy girls from all over southeast Alaska will remember it for a very long time. The Council thanks Southeast Alaska Boy Scouts for the use of the facility, and Lane Stumme for giving us a week of his vacation and seeing to it we were well fed.
Thanks to the behind-the-scenes people who made it possible, Executive Director Lesley Thompson, our board of directors, the CBJ Youth Activities grant and the USDA Rural Youth grant.
The girls loved the special presentations from the Forest Service and the Coast Guard. We learned that Kids Don't Float and that jellyfish do.
Three cheers for the amazing staff who also gave up soft beds and flush toilets just to make sure our Girl Scouts were well cared for: Gwendolyn Anding, Kay Shoemaker, Carrie Heuberger, Lisa Beaderstadt, Bev Lopez, Victoria Merritt, Juanita Compton, Andy Peterson and Elizabeth Shaw (aka, Her Majesty).
For housing, shopping and chauffeuring, we thank Don Bullock, Mary and Curt Stanghill, Terry Lutz, Maggie Stumme, Debbie Lumba, Teresa Newton and Sue Lutz.
Once again, our gear and Girl Scouts got to and from camp thanks to Temsco, Coastal and Gray Line-Holland America.
Thanks to adults and community partners, Girl Scouting is alive, awake, alert and enthusiastic in southeast Alaska.
