Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Sound off on the important issues at

Drunken driving:

• Police arrested 25-year-old Damien Lawrence on a charge of drunken driving at 1:19 a.m. Friday near Vanderbilt Hill. They lodged him at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

Drugs:

• Police arrested 31-year-old Ryan Merritt on a felony charge involving heroin at 2:50 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of South Franklin Street downtown. They lodged him at the state prison.

Domestic violence:

• Police arrested a 29-year-old man on a charge of domestic-violence assault at 8:03 p.m. Thursday in the 9300 block of Glacier Highway near the airport. They lodged him at the state prison.

• Police arrested a 26-year-old man on a charge of domestic-violence assault at 4:21 p.m. Friday downtown. They lodged him at the state prison.

Assault:

• Police arrested a 33-year-old man on an assault charge at 5:58 p.m. Thursday in the 6500 block of Glacier Highway in the Lemon Creek area. They lodged him at the state prison.

Theft:

• A ring and two pairs of earrings were reported stolen at 7:10 p.m. Thursday in the 3200 block of Hospital Drive. The silver ring bore a Tlingit wolf design.

• Two walkie-talkies, a speaker box and a case holding 100 compact discs were reported stolen at 9:48 a.m. Friday from a camper in the 10000 block of Camden Place near the airport.

• A bottle of prescription pills was reported stolen at 1:57 p.m. Friday from a vehicle near Second Street downtown.

• A purse was reported stolen at 6:47 p.m. Friday from an unlocked 1996 Dodge Caravan near Taku Boulevard in the Mendenhall Valley.

• A green canvas bag containing hand tools was reported stolen at 10:34 a.m. Saturday from an unlocked 1993 Jeep downtown.

Vandalism:

• Two tires were reported slashed at 3:34 p.m. on a 1985 Ford Bronco near Distin Avenue downtown.

• A portable toilet was reported damaged at 5:29 p.m. Thursday in the 3200 block of Riverside Drive in the valley.

• A window was reported broken out of a vehicle at 10:11 a.m. Friday in the 9000 block of Mendenhall Loop Road.

• The rear window of a Honda Odyssey was reported shattered at 8:18 p.m. Friday in the 1800 block of Shell Simmons Drive near the airport.

• Two tires on a 1997 Honda were reported slashed at 11:50 a.m. Saturday near Douglas Highway.

Vehicle accident:

• Police cited an 18-year-old man on a charge of following too closely in traffic after an accident at 11:49 a.m. Friday on inbound Egan Drive at Glacier Highway in the Jordan Creek area. The man was driving a 1983 Chevrolet pickup that sustained an estimated $2,000 in damage. The other vehicle, a 2000 Chevrolet pickup driven by a 29-year-old woman, sustained an estimated $1,000 in damage.

Underage drinking:

• Police cited two boys, ages 14 and 17, and a 14-year-old girl on charges of underage drinking at 3 a.m. Saturday near the Dan Moller Trailhead.

Animal encounters:

• A bear was reported getting into garbage at 10:33 p.m. Thursday in the 6500 block of Glacier highway. Bears also were sighted Thursday at 4:50 p.m. in the 300 block of South Franklin Street downtown and at 9:14 p.m. in the 1500 block of Second Street in Douglas.

A bear was reported running into a vehicle at 10:30 p.m. Friday near Dudley Street in the valley. The bear ran away, apparently uninjured. No damage was reported to the vehicle. At 9:01 p.m. Friday, a bear was reported with a possible injured front paw near Evergreen Park Road in the valley. Bears also were reported Friday at 12:26 p.m. in the 1000 block of Arctic Circle in the valley and at 11:19 p.m. in the 9900 block of Stephen Richards Memorial Drive in the valley. A bear with two cubs was reported at 9:23 p.m. Friday in the 4000 block of Granite Drive in the valley.

Saturday, bears were reported at 3:56 a.m. in the 6500 block of Glacier Highway and at 8:37 a.m. near Calhoun and 11th streets downtown.
