ANCHORAGE - Mayor Mark Begich has appointed a new rural affairs coordinator for the municipality of Anchorage.
Amy Sparck Dobmeier will replaced Roy Agloinga, who joined Begich's U.S. Senate campaign.
The mayor's office said Sparck Dobmeier will focus on opportunities to improve the relationship between Anchorage and rural Alaska.
She will focus on the Alaska Federation of Natives convention, which will be held in the new convention center downtown, he said.
Dobmeier graduated from Boston University in 1998 with a bachelor's in communications. She is Cup'ik Eskimo, was born in Anchorage and raised in Bethel and Chevak.
