The 2008 Nike Crossfire Challenge soccer tournament came to an end with the Juneau Soccer Club's U-16 boys team, the Jambaars, taking second place in the tournament.
The Jambaars lost to Washington Premier Soccer Team 5-0 on Monday.
"The Jambaars played well throughout the weekend, including this game," team manager Paul Bertholl said. "The Jambaars started the game out looking equally matched with Washington."
A third of the way into the first half, Washington scored its first goal and was able to carry the momentum throughout the game. The Jambaars' shots on goal were unable to find the back of the net.
The Washington Premier team came out as the 2008 State Champions, and one of its players was invited to try out for the U-17 National Team.
This is a top level college showcase soccer tournament for the Northwest, with teams from Alaska, California, Oregon, British Columbia and Washington competing.
"This was great warm-up competition for the Jambaars getting ready to go the Alaska State Cup Tournament in Fairbanks in August," Bertholl said.
