Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:


• Police arrested a man, 43, for domestic violence assault at 3:34 p.m. Tuesday in the Mendenhall Valley. Police believe alcohol was a factor. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


• A chrome bike was reported stolen at 3:21 p.m. Tuesday from Poplar Avenue. The bike was stolen Saturday.

• A tan backpack containing a T-shirt, plane tickets and a passport was reported stolen from a Nissan Pathfinder at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday from an undisclosed location in downtown Juneau.

• A maroon and silver men's bike was reported stolen at 11:02 p.m. Tuesday from Glacier Highway.

Vandalism and criminal mischief:

• A rock was reported thrown through the window of a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer at 8:21 a.m. Tuesday near mile 3 North Douglas Highway. The door also had been damaged. Damage is estimated to be $500.

Animal encounters:

• Bears were reported Tuesday at 8:52 a.m. near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek, 4:44 p.m. near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek, and 10:55 p.m. near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek. A bear was reported today at 2:20 a.m. near South Franklin Street.

Alcohol-related calls: 1.

Crime Line

Juneau Crime Line Inc. is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest or indictment of the person or people responsible for the theft of an inflatable Budweiser can from the roof of Henry's Spirits at the Mendenhall Mall on June 21. The can is about 10 feet high and 20 feet wide with a silver and white "Bud Light" logo on it. It is valued at $4,000.
