Mr. Cooper's letter to the editor ("Fourth of July panel needs to be replaced," July 8) was a shock to me. But rather than make this a political stance, I would like to respect Mr. Cooper's interpretation as his form of freedom of speech. I would like to express positive aspects of the parade, from my point of view.
I was at the parade with my 3-year old son, and I never felt that I should have covered my son's eyes. The parade itself was entertaining and colorful. My son loved the mini-cars and firetrucks. The adults around me had great big smiles on their faces. The political statement floats were tasteful and I was happy to see fellow Americans expressing their views. I think the parade committee did a great job. I would like to thank them for making my Fourth of July a great one.
