Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Sound off on the important issues at

Drunken driving:

• Police arrested 24-year-old Scott Edward Dybdahl on a charge of drunken driving at 3:01 a.m. Sunday on Ferry Way downtown. They lodged him at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and impounded the vehicle he was driving.

• Police cited 19-year-old Grace Ashley Dalman on a charge of drunken driving at 3:13 a.m. Sunday on outbound Egan Drive near Glacier Highway in the Jordan Creek area. They lodged her at the state prison and impounded the vehicle she was driving. They also charged her with underage drinking.

• Police arrested 24-year-old Khongdet Koney Kanyawot on a charge of drunken driving at 3:20 a.m. Sunday on Glacier Highway and Radcliffe Road near the airport. They lodged him at the state prison and impounded the vehicle he was driving.


• A backpack holding a flashlight and tacklebox was reported stolen at 9:04 p.m. Saturday from a 2005 Ford Ranger at the Auke Lake Trailhead.

• Gasoline was reported siphoned from the tank of a 1998 Buick at 11:38 a.m. Sunday in the 1900 block of Lemon Creek Road.


• Police cited two women, ages 23 and 24, on larceny charges after responding to a reported shoplifting at 3:35 p.m. Saturday in the 8100 block of Glacier Highway.


• A tire was reported slashed at 2:40 p.m. Saturday on a 1994 Dodge van near Distin Avenue downtown.

Vehicle accidents:

• Troopers reported Sunday that Angoon High School was damaged in an accident Friday. A 17-year-old boy, reportedly driving without a license, lost control of the vehicle he was attempting to turn around in the parking lot. Damage was estimated at $2,000 to the school and $500 to the vehicle.

• Police cited a 24-year-old man on a charge of failing to keep a safe distance in traffic after an accident at 12:51 a.m. Sunday on Egan Drive and 10th Street downtown. He was driving a 1999 Ford F150 that reportedly struck a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria driven by a 45-year-old woman. The Crown Victoria sustained an estimated $300 in damage.

Hit and run:

• A Ford Explorer was reported hit by an unknown vehicle at 2:46 p.m. Saturday in the 8100 block of Glacier Highway.

Traffic stop:

• Police impounded a vehicle at 2:05 a.m. Sunday after citing the driver, a 20-year-old man, on a charge of driving without a license.

Underage drinking:

• Police cited two 19-year-old men on charges of underage drinking at 5:24 a.m. Sunday in the 4400 block of Kanat'a Street in the valley.

Animal encounters:

• A bear was reported trying to get into a storage shed at 7:45 p.m. Saturday in the 2800 block of Mendenhall Loop Road. Bears also were reported Saturday at 12:11 p.m. in the 3100 block of Glacierwood Drive in the Mendenhall Valley, at 2:02 a.m. in the 3100 block of Glacierwood Drive and at 9:10 p.m. near South Franklin Street and Ewing Way downtown, and at 9:52 p.m. near Gastineau Avenue downtown when a bear and two cubs were reported in the area. At 4:12 a.m. Sunday, a bear was reported to have spread trash around after trying to gain access to a shed in the 2800 block of Linda Avenue in the valley.
