Clients of Alaska USA Federal Credit Union can access their assets 24-7, with a new self-service terminal that's been installed at Carrs.
``It's 24-hour access,'' said Bill Peters, regional vice president. ``You can access account information, rate information. ... You can order checks, place stop payments, and you can do all that 24 hours a day. It's incredibly convenient.''
Self-service terminals, called SSTs, are the third component in the credit union's Ultrabranch access network. Touch Tone Teller, which provides 24/7 phone access, and computer access via the Internet are also available.
``Ultrabranch truly is the main service that provides you online banking,'' Peters said. ``It's through the Web.''
While other banks do offer online services to their customers, Peters believes Alaska USA is the only one to provide all the options included in the SST.
``(An) ATM is not the equivalent of an SST,'' he added.
Member response has been encouraging; the new terminal has already increased membership interest in online banking, which allows access to the SST.
